DMP arrests 416 in 24-hour citywide crackdown
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 416 people in a 24-hour drive across the capital and filed 30 cases over various allegations, police said.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Aktar Hossain confirmed the figures on Sunday (August 30).
The Mirpur division recorded the highest number of arrests at 125, followed by Uttara with 50, Tejgaon 49, Motijheel 48, Wari 40, Gulshan 40, Ramna 38 and Lalbagh 26.
During the operations, police also recovered 17 rounds of shotgun ammunition, three rounds of Chinese rifle ammunition, 5.18kg of cannabis, 2,683 yaba tablets, 2.04g of yaba powder, nine mobile phones, Tk 280,490 in cash and one victim.
The arrests and seizures were made during raids in different police station areas across Dhaka. Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway, the DMP said.
