DMP arrests 465 during Dhaka drive, 45 cases filed

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 465 people during regular anti-crime drives across the capital over the past 24 hours. A total of 45 cases were filed at different police stations during the period.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, Niaz Mehedi, disclosed the information on Wednesday (September 23).

He said 38 people were arrested in the Ramna division, 38 in Lalbagh, 64 in Wari, 83 in Motijheel, 80 in Tejgaon, 90 in Mirpur, 33 in Gulshan, 34 in Uttara and five by the Detective Branch (DB).

During the drives, police recovered one locally made single-shot firearm, one cartridge, two knives, one steel rod and five wooden sticks.

The deputy commissioner said police also recovered 50 kilograms of cannabis, 299 yaba tablets, 23 bottles of foreign liquor, two bottle caps, some fuel paper, a pickup truck, 11 mobile phones and Tk 4,500 in cash. One victim was also rescued during the operations.

Niaz Mehedi said the drugs and other evidence were recovered during regular operations conducted in different police station areas across the capital. The individuals concerned were arrested in connection with the recoveries.

Further legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
