DMP arrests 483 in 24 hours, recovers drugs

In regular drives by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over the past 24 hours, 483 individuals have been arrested across the capital. A total of 59 cases were filed at various police stations during this period.

DMP's Media and Public Relations Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Niaz Mehedi confirmed the information on Wednesday morning. He said drives were conducted in various police station areas, leading to the recovery of various evidence and narcotics. Legal action is underway against those arrested.

According to DMP, among those arrested, 34 were from Ramna division, 33 from Lalbagh, 80 from Wari, 53 from Motijheel, 45 from Tejgaon, 132 from Mirpur, 40 from Gulshan, 55 from Uttara division, and 11 from the Detective Branch.

During the drives, 120 kg of cannabis, 12,375 yaba pills, 2 purias of heroin and 5 litres of locally-made liquor were recovered. Additionally, 11,480 counterfeit creams, 11 mobile phones, 526 sacks of rice, two knives, a motorcycle and a private car were seized. Two victims were also rescued during the same operation.
