DMP arrests 502, files 71 cases in 24-hour drive

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 502 people in regular drives across the capital in the last 24 hours, while 71 cases were filed at various police stations during this period.

DMP Deputy Commissioner for Media and Public Relations Md Akhtar Hossain provided the information on Tuesday, September 8.

Among those arrested, 18 were from Ramna division, 28 from Lalbagh division, 55 from Wari division, 72 from Motijheel division, 94 from Tejgaon division, 134 from Mirpur division, 32 from Gulshan division, 50 from Uttara division and 19 from the Detective Branch.

The DMP said the drives also led to the recovery of 7,942 pieces of yaba, 5 kg 250 grams of cannabis, and 3.2 grams of heroin. Additionally, one mobile phone, one knife, four large knives, one spoke, two helmets, two pickup vans, 150 litres of diesel, one drum, one battery, one plastic pipe and Tk 2,200 in cash were recovered.

The DMP said the arrests and seizures were made during operations in various police station areas of the capital. Legal action against those arrested is currently underway.
