DMP arrests 512, recovers drugs and cash in overnight drive

A total of 512 people were arrested and 48 cases were filed during regular operations by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the last 24 hours. The arrests were made in various police station areas across the capital, with the recovery of contraband and drugs, according to a press release from the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division on Friday, August 14.

According to BSS, the arrests included 39 in Ramna Division, 40 in Lalbagh Division, 70 in Wari Division, 71 in Motijheel Division, 47 in Tejgaon Division, 116 in Mirpur Division, 56 in Gulshan Division, 56 in Uttara Division and 17 by the Detective Branch.

During the operations, police recovered 1 kg 204 grams of cannabis, 16,333 yaba pills, 50 bottles of Eskuf syrup, 4 grams of heroin, 5 motorcycles and Tk 15,400 in cash.

Legal action against those arrested is currently underway.
