DMP arrests 528, files 53 cases
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 528 people in regular anti-crime drives across the capital over the past 24 hours.
During the same period, 53 cases were filed, according to the DMP.
Of those arrested, 33 were from the Ramna division, 67 from Lalbagh, 75 from Wari, 53 from Motijheel, 73 from Tejgaon, 102 from Mirpur, 52 from Gulshan, 63 from Uttara, nine from the Detective Branch (DB) and one from the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit.
During the drives, police recovered 3.59kg of cannabis, 218 yaba tablets, 2.6 grams of heroin, two knives, a bus, nine mobile phones, 2,600 counterfeit revenue stamps, 3,356 non-judicial stamps and Tk1,56,032 in cash.
They also recovered counterfeit medicines and cosmetics along with equipment used to produce them, including 627 syrups, 6,000 capsules, 30 face washes, 310 shampoos, 5kg of white powder, 150 empty packages and bottles for hygiene wash, 300 unlabelled syrup bottles, a capsule-filling machine, six capsule-filling machine parts and two machines for attaching labels.
The arrests and recoveries were made during drives conducted in different police station areas across the capital.
Further legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
