DMP arrests 546 in 24-hour drive, files 62 cases

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 546 people and filed 62 cases during a 24-hour anti-crime drive across the capital, the police said on Thursday (September 24).

The arrests were made by different DMP units, with the highest number recorded in the Mirpur division at 125, followed by Tejgaon with 109, Wari 77, Motijheel 73, Lalbagh 45, Gulshan 42, Ramna 37, Uttara 34, Detective Branch 3 and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) 1.

During the operation, police recovered remnants of an exploded cocktail, 4.12kg of cannabis, 2,196 yaba tablets, 51 grammes of heroin, 30 bottles of foreign liquor, five mobile phones and a private car.

DMP said the arrests and recoveries were made during operations in different police station areas of the capital. Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway, it added.
