DMP arrests 560 in 24-hour Dhaka crackdown
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 560 people in its regular operations across the capital over the past 24 hours, while 46 cases were filed during the period.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi confirmed the figures on Thursday (August 27).
According to the DMP, 45 people were arrested in the Ramna division, 30 in Lalbagh, 54 in Wari, 63 in Motijheel, 92 in Tejgaon, 146 in Mirpur, 52 in Gulshan, 74 in Uttara and four by the Detective Branch.
Police said the arrests were made during raids in different parts of the capital, during which various items and narcotics were also recovered.
The seized items included 14,678 yaba tablets, 250 grammes of cannabis, 21 litres of locally made liquor and five mobile phones. Police also rescued one victim during the operations.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, the DMP official said.
