DMP bans gatherings around Jamuna, nearby areas from Monday
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all forms of rallies and public gatherings in and around Jamuna, the official residence of the Chief Adviser, effective from Monday until further notice.
The decision was announced in a press release signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali on Sunday (January 4).
According to the notice, the restriction covers the Bangladesh Secretariat area, the Jamuna residence and surrounding zones, including the Hotel InterContinental crossing, Kakrail Mosque crossing, Officers’ Club crossing and the Mintoo Road crossing. All types of meetings, assemblies, mass gatherings, processions, human chains, sit-ins, strikes and rallies are prohibited in these areas.
The DMP said the ban has been enforced under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance to maintain public order and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser.
