DMP files 1,744 traffic cases in day-long crackdown

The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,744 cases in a special drive against traffic rule violations across the capital, as part of ongoing efforts to improve road discipline.

According to a DMP press release issued on Sunday (July 26), the operation also resulted in 504 vehicles being impounded and 265 others being towed.

Among the eight traffic divisions, Mirpur recorded the highest number of cases with 382, followed by Motijheel (295), Uttara (250), Tejgaon (212), Gulshan (189), Wari (187), Lalbagh (143) and Ramna (86).

The cases involved various categories of vehicles, including buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws and motorcycles found violating traffic regulations.

The DMP said such special enforcement drives will continue regularly to strengthen traffic management, ensure compliance with road safety laws and improve discipline on the capital's roads.
