DMP issues guidelines regarding new govt's oath-taking ceremony
The oath-taking ceremony for newly elected members of parliament and cabinet members is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 17. A large gathering is expected in and around the National Parliament building on this occasion.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police has imposed temporary restrictions on vehicular movement on surrounding roads in this connection. The directive was issued by DMP on Monday, February 16.
In a notification, DMP informed that vehicle movement will be limited on the road from Khejur Bagan Crossing to Manik Mia Avenue and on Lake Road from July Memorial Museum (Ganabhaban Crossing) to Urojahaj Crossing during the ceremony. It was noted that temporary inconvenience may occur. However, alternative routes have been designated by the traffic division to maintain normal vehicular movement.
DMP announced the following guidelines:
— Vehicles heading from the north towards Farmgate and Sonargaon via Mirpur Road will be able to proceed via Defence Gap–China Maitree Convention Centre–Urojahaj Crossing to Bijoy Sarani towards Farmgate.
— Vehicles heading from Dhanmondi-27 to Farmgate will travel via Asadgate–Defence Gap–China Maitree Convention Centre on the designated route.
— Vehicles heading from Asadgate to Farmgate will use the alternative road via Ganabhaban Crossing through Defence Gap.
— Vehicles heading from the Elevated Expressway and Indira Road towards Dhanmondi will use the Khejur Bagan Crossing–Urojahaj Crossing–China Maitree Convention Centre–Asadgate route.
— Southbound vehicles from Mirpur Road will be able to proceed via Shyamoli–Shishumela–Ganabhaban towards Dhanmondi-27.
To avoid traffic congestion during the ceremony, drivers have been advised to use the FDC (Hatirjheel) ramp instead of the Farmgate exit ramp.
DMP has specifically requested vehicle drivers to avoid Manik Mia Avenue and Lake Road and use alternative routes from 8 am to 7 pm on Tuesday.
Seeking overall cooperation from city residents, DMP stated that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the oath-taking ceremony.
