The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has introduced special traffic arrangements around the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and adjacent roads ahead of the first session of the 13th National Parliament.

The information was announced in a press release signed by DMP Media and Public Relations Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman on Wednesday (March 11).

According to the statement, the presence of the President, Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, foreign diplomats, political leaders and other dignitaries at the parliament complex is expected to increase traffic movement in areas including Urojahaj intersection, Khejur Bagan, Manik Mia Avenue, Asad Gate and the July Smriti Museum (Ganabhaban) crossing.

To ease congestion, traffic diversions will remain in effect from 8:00am to 11:00am on several roads.

Vehicles traveling from Indira Road to Begum Rokeya Sarani via Urojahaj intersection will not be allowed to turn right. Instead, they will have to proceed straight along Manik Mia Avenue and then take Mirpur Road to reach their destinations.

Similarly, vehicles heading from Manik Mia Avenue toward Begum Rokeya Sarani via Khejur Bagan will not be allowed to turn left and will be required to take an alternative route through Farmgate.

Additionally, the road from Urojahaj intersection to Khejur Bagan will operate as a southbound one-way lane on both sides.

The DMP has requested city residents to follow the traffic guidelines during the specified hours to help avoid congestion and ensure smooth movement.
