DMP prohibits firecrackers, balloons in Dhaka for Shab-e-Barat

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all fireworks, firecrackers, sky lanterns, and gas balloons in the city during the holy night of Shab-e-Barat.

The prohibition, announced in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Tuesday (February 3), will be in effect from 6:00pm on February 3 until 6:00am on February 4.

The DMP said the measure, taken under Section 28 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976, aims to ensure religious solemnity, maintain public order, and facilitate a peaceful celebration.

The ban covers the purchase, sale, transport, and use of all types of explosives and pyrotechnics. Authorities warned that violations would be met with strict legal action.
