DMP restricts mobile use for members on duty except in-charge
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued special instructions to maintain law and order and prevent the activities of banned organisations ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The directive states that no police member, except the in-charge, will be allowed to use mobile phones while on duty within the Dhaka metropolitan area.
The order was issued on Monday, November 10, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali.
The directive mentioned that it has recently been observed that many police members use mobile phones while on duty, disrupting their attention and reducing vigilance. As a result, although police presence is visible, they are unable to perform their duties effectively or ensure public safety.
To maintain a peaceful election environment and uphold law and order, the order instructs that only the in-charge may use mobile phones during duty hours, while others are strictly prohibited.
DMP further stated that any member violating this instruction will be deemed to have committed a disciplinary offence and will face departmental action.
