DMP suggests caution in hiring household workers
Following the recent murder of a mother and daughter in Mohammadpur, allegedly by a domestic worker, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has urged city residents to be extra careful when hiring domestic workers to ensure safety.
In a statement released Tuesday night, DMP’s media branch said homeowners should remain vigilant to prevent incidents like the double murder on December 8. Theft by domestic workers has also been reported in the past.
DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali advised that before hiring, residents should verify the worker’s national ID, collect a recent photograph, and record information of at least two references to help prevent crimes.
The police also urged residents to complete rental registration forms and provide the necessary information to assist law enforcement in maintaining security.
