DMP tightens airtight security in the capital on occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken extensive security measures to keep the law and order situation in the capital normal and ensure the security of city dwellers on the occasion of holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH). Security has been strengthened across the capital to deal with the apprehension of any unpleasant incident and disruption of public safety.

This information was given in a press release of DMP on Tuesday (August 25).

The press release said that picket and checkpoint duties are being conducted in various areas of the capital on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi. Search activities have been strengthened by setting up checkpoints at all entry points of the metropolis. Alongside, members of Detective Branch (DB) and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) will conduct intelligence surveillance and operational activities.

Members of SWAT, Bomb Disposal Unit and K-9 Unit will conduct sweeping activities at important places and public gathering spots. Important installations will be brought under special security plans and kept under constant surveillance through CCTV cameras and drones.

Besides, members of CTSB and IAD will continue intelligence activities and information collection in plain clothes. Additional RAB and CID teams will also remain deployed to strengthen overall security. Adequate Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been kept ready to deal with emergency situations quickly.

DMP informed that beyond the normal deployment, additional officers and forces will perform security duties centering on discussion meetings, milad mahfils and rallies in various areas of the capital. Mobile teams of the concerned thanas will remain in front of and behind the rallies.

Senior officers of DMP will supervise the security arrangements of their respective jurisdictions on the spot from the field. The highest security measures have been taken to ensure the uninterrupted completion of religious programmes and the safe movement of city dwellers, the press release informed.
