DMP to install 11,000 CCTV cameras across Dhaka

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced plans to install 11,000 CCTV cameras across the capital Dhaka to strengthen law enforcement and enhance crime detection.

Acting DMP Commissioner Md Sarwar made the announcement at a programme held at a temporary police camp in Mohammadpur's Basila on Thursday (April 23).

He said the expanded surveillance network aims to improve monitoring of law and order and assist in identifying and tracking criminals.

The DMP will also publish images of listed criminals and urged citizens to share information to support law enforcement efforts.

In addition, the police force is set to introduce a digital application to collect and manage data on hotel and restaurant owners and managers, as well as tenants in residential areas.

Officials said the combined measures are part of a broader initiative to strengthen urban security and improve policing efficiency in the capital.
