DMP warns of stern action against Hizb ut-Tahrir’s activities
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a stern warning against any activities by Hizb ut-Tahrir, a banned organisarion, citing that such actions are punishable under the country's anti-terrorism laws.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the DMP mentioned that Hizb ut-Tahrir was declared a banned outfit by the Bangladesh government on October 22, 2009, considering it a threat to public security.
Under the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009, any form of gathering, procession, distribution of posters and leaflets, or promotional activities by banned outfits is a criminal offense.
The DMP further stated that if any banned outfit, including Hizb ut-Tahrir, attempts to hold meetings, rallies, or engage in any form of publicity, necessary legal actions will be taken against them.
The statement was issued by Muhammad Talebur Rahman PPM, Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Media and Public Relations Division.
