DNA test confirms madrasa teacher as father of newborn

Advocate Nurul Kabir Rubel, Public Prosecutor of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, has confirmed that the accused madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagar has been identified as the father of the newborn born from the rape of an 11-year-old child in Madan of Netrokona. The matter has been confirmed in the DNA test report.

He confirmed the matter after the DNA test report was presented in court on Monday (August 24).

He said that in the DNA test report the accused madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagar has been identified as the father of the newborn born from the rape incident. He was produced in court on Monday and the DNA test report was presented. He hopes that the trial of the case will be possible to complete within the next 60 days.

It is learnt from the case documents and concerned sources that about four years ago Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagar established a women’s Qawmi madrasa. After the separation of the child’s parents she used to stay at her maternal grandfather’s house and study in that madrasa. Her mother used to work as a domestic help in Sylhet for livelihood.

At one stage the child started feeling unwell and physical changes appeared in her body. Knowing about the matter her mother took her for examination to a clinic in Madan municipal town on April 18. There the doctor informed that the child was pregnant.

Afterwards the child’s mother filed a case as plaintiff against the madrasa teacher Aman Ullah on April 23. Rab arrested him from Gauripur of Mymensingh on May 6. The next day the court sent him on three days’ remand.

After the remand on the application of the investigation officer the court ordered DNA test of the accused.

Considering the security and future of the child she was sent to a safe home under the Department of Social Services in Sylhet on the order of the court on May 12. There she gave birth to a daughter on July 2.

Later police applied to the court on July 9 for DNA test of the newborn. On the order of the court the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police collected the DNA sample of the newborn from a safe home in Sylhet on July 28.

In that test report the identity of the accused madrasa teacher of the case Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagar as the father of the newborn has been confirmed.
