DNA test confirms rape, chargesheet filed against madrasa teacher

Police have submitted a chargesheet against two individuals, including the prime accused, Aman Ullah Mahmudi (also known as Sagar Huzur), a madrasa teacher, in a case involving the rape and pregnancy of a 12-year-old Qawmi madrasa student in Madan, Netrokona.

The chargesheet was filed on Thursday, August 27 . The Criminal Investigation Department's DNA test reportedly matched the DNA of the accused teacher with that of the newborn child by 99.99 percent, establishing his paternity .

The chargesheet was submitted following the receipt of a DNA test report prepared by the CID. The test was conducted on samples collected from the newborn on July 28 by court order, after the victim gave birth to a baby girl on July 2 . Samples from the accused were collected earlier on May 17 .

The accused, Aman Ullah Mahmudi, established a women's Qawmi madrasa in the area about four years ago . The victim, whose parents were separated, lived with her maternal grandfather and studied at the madrasa. Her mother worked as a domestic helper in Sylhet . The crime came to light in April 2026 when the victim's mother took her to a clinic in Madan after she became ill and showed physical changes. Doctors confirmed she was pregnant .

The victim's mother filed a case on April 23. The accused was arrested on May 6 by the Rapid Action Battalion from Gauripur in Mymensingh, and later placed on remand .

The investigation officer, SI Md Akhtaruzzaman, prepared the chargesheet after receiving the final DNA report confirming the accused as the biological father . Police have already submitted the chargesheet to the court, advancing the case toward the judicial process . The families of the victims have expressed hope for a swift trial and exemplary punishment .
