DNCC administrator, MP attacked during clash between workers, locals in Uttarkhan

A clash erupted between sanitation workers and locals in the Rajabari Secondary Transfer Station (STS) area of Uttarkhan in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

Upon receiving news of the clash, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, local MP Jahangir Hossain and senior police officials rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control. Allegations have also emerged that the administrator and the MP were attacked.

DNCC Public Relations Officer Md Zakir Hossain said in an emergency message that some local individuals carried out a sudden attack on DNCC sanitation workers in the Rajabari STS area of Ward No. 46 in Uttarkhan.

When the administrator, the local MP and police officials arrived at the scene to control the situation, the attackers reportedly turned on them and carried out the attack.

Following the incident, law enforcement presence in the area has been strengthened.
