DNCC orders to construct 'pink toilets' for women at animal markets
On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan has ordered the construction of 'pink toilets' (separate pink toilets) for women at animal markets.
At the same time, he gave a strict warning that the markets should not cause any public suffering or traffic congestion.
The DNCC administrator gave this instruction at a meeting organized with the leaseholders of the sacrificial animal market and relevant stakeholders at the DNCC's Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday (May 20) morning.
At the meeting, Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan said that the City Corporation will maintain strict vigilance so that no public suffering or traffic congestion is created in the capital centered around the animal market. Immediate legal action will be taken against those concerned if any condition of the lease is violated in the management of the market.
Emphasizing on waste management to protect the environment of the market, the DNCC administrator said that daily waste must be removed from the market every day so that the environment remains clean and the common people can move around comfortably.
