Do not be afraid extortionists, we will give you work: Jamaat ameer

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Shafiqur Rahman has said extortionists will also be given dignified work so that they can live honourably in society.

He made the remarks on Saturday, January 24, while addressing a public rally at the SM Pilot High School ground in Palashbari, Gaibandha.

Jamaat ameer said, “Do not be afraid, extortionists, you are also members of this society. Inshallah, we will place dignified work in your hands.”

Stating that providing unemployment allowances would turn into a factory for producing unemployment, he said, “We will not give unemployment allowances to the youth. Our youths do not want allowances, they want fair and dignified jobs.”

Shafiqur Rahman further said farmers are deprived of fair prices for their produce for two main reasons. “One is the middlemen who take bites at every stage, and the other is extortion at various points. Because of these two factors, farmers do not get fair prices and consumers do not get products at reasonable rates. We will eliminate those extortionists, Inshallah,” he said.

Reiterating his earlier remarks, the Jamaat ameer said extortionists would be rehabilitated through dignified work so that they no longer have to hide their faces in society and their families are no longer stigmatised. He said the party aims to ensure that every hand is given work and turned into a dignified hand.
