A heart patient seeking treatment at the emergency department of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital was allegedly kicked and injured by an on-duty doctor, sparking outrage among the patient’s family.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon when 65-year-old heart patient Md. Mohsin, a resident of Batrish area in Kishoreganj town, was admitted to the hospital’s emergency department after his condition worsened.

According to relatives, the attending doctor, Mahbub Alam Milon, refused to admit Mohsin to the hospital and directed him to visit a local clinic instead. A heated argument ensued during which the doctor verbally abused Mohsin’s wife, daughter, and niece with obscene language. The situation escalated when the doctor reportedly stood up and kicked Mohsin, causing a bleeding injury on his left thigh.

Mohsin’s son, Md. Sholak, filed a formal complaint at the Kishoreganj Model Police Station. “My ailing father was physically assaulted, and my mother and sister were verbally abused. The doctor is now trying to settle the matter with money, but we demand justice,” Sholak said.

The accused doctor, however, denied the allegations, stating that the incident was a misunderstanding and that no physical assault occurred. “The matter has been resolved at the police station,” he claimed.

Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the complaint and assured that appropriate legal action will be taken after a thorough investigation.

Hospital Assistant Director Dr. Nasiruzzaman said, “We have received a verbal complaint. Once a written complaint is submitted, an investigation will be initiated and necessary action taken.”
