Dr. Mamunur Rashid and Dr. Abdul Alim new pro-VCs of RU

The government has appointed two new pro Vice-Chancellors of Rajshahi University (RU). They are--Professor Dr. Mamunur Rashid of the university's Pharmacy Department (academic) and Professor Md. Abdul Alim of the Department of Agriculture and Agricultural Extension (Administration).

The appointments were announced in two separate notifications of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.

The two notifications state that the Chancellor has appointed them to the university in accordance with Section 13 (1) of the 'Rajshahi University Order, 1973'.

According to the notification, their tenure as pro Vice-Chancellors will be effective for a period of 4 (four) years from the date of joining or the date of their retirement, whichever is earlier.

Both of them will enjoy the same salary and allowances as the current posts in the above posts and other facilities related to the posts as per the rules.

As per the conditions, the two Pro-Vice-Chancellors will have to stay on the university campus round the clock and exercise the powers and perform the duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor as prescribed by the university statutes and laws. However, the President and the Chancellor can cancel this appointment at any time if necessary.

The notification mentioned that this order has been issued in the public interest.

Earlier, in a separate order, the two Pro-Vice-Chancellors of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Farid Uddin Khan (Academic) and Professor Dr. Mohammad Moin Uddin (Administration), were relieved from their posts and allowed to join the main department.
