Dr. Shafiqur Rahman re-elected Jamaat-e-Islami chief for 3rd term
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has been re-elected as the Amir (chief) of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for the 2026–2028 term, securing the highest number of votes in the party’s internal election.
The announcement was made through a press release issued by the party on Sunday (November 2).
According to the statement, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General and Chief Election Commissioner Maulana ATM Masum announced the election results on Saturday (November 1) night. Voting took place between October 9 and October 25 among party members (Rukon) across the country through a secret ballot.
Following the completion of vote counting, Dr. Rahman was declared elected for his third consecutive term as the party’s Amir, the statement added.
