Dr Yunus did not attend Victory Day, Independence Day programmes at Bangabhaban: President
President Md. Sahabuddin said that despite receiving an invitation, the chief adviser of the interim government, Dr Muhammad Yunus, did not attend the main state ceremony at Bangabhaban on Victory Day and Independence Day.
He made this comment in an interview given to the national daily Kaler Kantho at Bangabhaban on Friday (February 20) night. The first part of the interview was published on Monday (February 23). The second and last part of it was published today, Tuesday (February 24).
Md. Sahabuddin said, ‘The main state ceremony on Victory Day and Independence Day is held at Bangabhaban. As per a long-standing tradition, we organize these events at Bangabhaban; there are grand ceremonies. We have officially invited the chief adviser on those days; but he did not come. Earlier, the heads of government have participated in almost every ceremony. Although there is no constitutional obligation to do so, it is a matter of courtesy.'
