Driver, helper abandon NBR official's body at hospital gate in Naogaon

The body of a revenue officer named Junayed Saki, aged 37, has been recovered in Naogaon. The authorities of the 250-bed Naogaon General Hospital recovered the body in an unidentified state from in front of the hospital around 5:30 am on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses stated that a yellow pickup truck stopped in front of the hospital in the early morning. The driver and his helper quickly dumped a badly injured body from the vehicle and fled. Hospital staff later recovered the body and took it to the emergency department, where the duty doctor declared him dead.

The deceased, Junayed Saki, was a resident of Pirojpur area in Barishal. Assistant Commissioner of Naogaon Customs, Md. Rashed, confirmed that he was working as an Assistant Revenue Officer at the Dhaka Revenue Board.

Family sources said he was travelling by train from Dhaka to meet his wife in Mohadevpur, Naogaon, after getting off at Santahar railway station. However, he did not reach home after getting off the train in the morning.

Assistant Commissioner of Naogaon Customs, Md. Rashed, said it is initially suspected that he died in a road accident on the way from Santahar to Naogaon. Family members were informed and they came to the hospital.

Dr. Rehnuma Munmun, the duty doctor at the emergency department of the 250-bed Naogaon General Hospital, said the body was initially identified as that of a road accident victim. The police station and the victim's family members were later informed.

Inspector (Investigation) of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station, Md. Khorshed Alam, said police recovered the body after receiving news of the accident from the hospital. The identity has been established. However, it has not yet been confirmed when and where the accident occurred, and who left the body at the hospital.
