Driver killed as bamboo-laden truck overturns in Madaripur

A truck driver, Abul Hossain Mandal, 45, was killed after his bamboo-laden truck overturned on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Rajoir, Madaripur, early Monday morning, June 22.

The accident occurred around 3:00 am on the slope of the Tekerhat Bridge. Abul Hossain was heading to Barguna from the Burimari border area when the rear wheel of the truck came off, causing him to lose control and the vehicle to overturn. He was crushed under the truck and died on the spot.

The accident caused a long traffic jam on the Dhaka-Barishal highway. Highway police and fire service personnel conducted rescue operations and normalised the situation after about three hours.

Mostafapur Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Matiur Rahman said the body was handed over to the family on Monday morning. The truck has been kept in police custody.
