Drone flights banned at airports and adjacent areas
Drone flights have been banned at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and all other airports, as well as their surrounding areas, due to risks to national security and safe aviation.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has requested that the ban be communicated to all concerned parties.
The decision was announced in a government information release on Tuesday.
According to the authority, although unauthorised drone flights at airports and adjacent areas are completely prohibited under the Drone registration and operation policy 2020, some electronic media outlets flew drones without permission on December 19 while receiving the body of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi at the airport, in the presence of advisers and other important persons. Such flights pose serious risks to aircraft operations.
The authority has urged representatives of electronic media and the general public not to fly drones in airport areas.
