Drug lords have no place alongside me in Debidwar: Hasnat Abdullah
Hasnat Abdullah, the candidate of the 11-party alliance in Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency and the chief organiser for the National Citizen Party (NCP) in the southern region, has stated that he has no compromise with extortionists, tender manipulators, or drug lords. He declared that Hasnat Abdullah and drug lords cannot co-exist in Debidwar.
He made these remarks at an election courtyard meeting held on Tuesday, February 3, in Ward No. 5 of Mohanpur union under Debidwar upazila.
Hasnat Abdullah said their accountability is to the general public. He claimed they have not taken money from any extortionist, tender manipulator, or drug lord, and therefore are not accountable to them. He asserted that if they do anything, they will have to stand before the people's court.
He added that many politicians of the past relied on illegal businessmen during elections, but the 11-party alliance does politics based on the strength of the common people, relying on the public, not on mafia or black money.
Asserting a tough stance against drugs, Hasnat said January 12 will be the final day for drug lords in Debidwar, God willing. He claimed that with the setting of the sun that day, drug trade in Debidwar will end, and the final reckoning for drugs and those involved will begin.
He stated that many extortionists, tender manipulators, and drug dealers in Debidwar are currently at a loss. Those who have not developed the habit of earning through honest work can contact them, and they will arrange dignified employment.
Regarding the election, Hasnat Abdullah urged supporters to ask for at least 10 votes in his favour every day. He called on everyone to go and vote in a festive environment on January 12.
Addressing voters, he asked them to cast two votes—one for the Water Lily symbol and another 'Yes' vote. He claimed that the future Bangladesh will be built upon the 'Yes' vote.
