Drug trafficker arrested with 7kg heroin in Chapainawabganj

SRB-5 has arrested a drug trafficker named Md Mehedi Hasan (35) with 6 kilograms 751 grams of heroin in an operation in Shibganj of Chapainawabganj.

At that time, his associate Md Al-Mamun (40) managed to flee after sensing the presence of the force.

The operation was conducted at the accused's residence in the Omorpur Hatatpara area of Shyampur union in Ward No. 4 of the upazila in the early hours of Tuesday, September 29.

The arrested Mehedi Hasan is the son of the late Mofiz Uddin of that area. The absconding Al-Mamun is also a resident of the same area.

SRB said that based on a tip-off, a crack team of SRB-5's Rajshahi Sadar Company surrounded Mehedi Hasan's house in Omorpur Hatatpara and conducted the operation around 5:30am. At that time, Mehedi was detained, but his associate Al-Mamun fled. Later, during interrogation, 6 kilograms 751 grams of heroin was recovered from a room used for storing straw in front of the residence, as shown by the detained Mehedi.

In preliminary interrogation, the arrested accused admitted that he had kept this large quantity of heroin in his possession for the purpose of sale. He and the absconding accused had long been collecting heroin illegally in collusion with each other and buying and selling it in various areas of the Rajshahi division.

A case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the arrested and absconding accused at Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj over the incident.
