Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has decided to confiscate deposits and blacklist leaseholders who violate conditions for not removing waste from 11 temporary haats in Qorbani within the stipulated time. It has also announced a significant increase in the amount of the haat deposit from next year.

DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam gave this information at a press briefing held at Nagar Bhaban on Sunday (May 31).

He said that to avoid public inconvenience due to the leaseholders not removing waste as per the conditions, the city corporation had to remove the waste on its own responsibility, which slowed down the overall activities somewhat. He also warned that those who create public inconvenience will not be given any concession.

DSCC said that a total of 36,086 tons of waste was dumped at Matuail landfill from Eid to midnight on Saturday (May 30), which is more than the set target of 33,942 tons. In the three days, 14,814 tons, 8,977 tons and 12,295 tons of waste were removed respectively.

A total of 13,453 cleaning workers, including DSCC's own staff, worked in the field and a total of 2,117 vehicles with 382 special equipment were used in this campaign. In addition, a total of 17,315 animals were sacrificed at 357 places designated by DSCC in the three days.

To increase citizen awareness, 46 tons of bleaching powder, 1,050 liters of Savlon and 140,000 biodegradable bags were distributed in 75 wards.

Administrator Abdus Salam said that there were some unexpected errors due to severe traffic congestion in the Jatrabari area, skins being left everywhere and three consecutive days of sacrifice. He expressed his regret to the city residents for this.
If you see waste accumulating anywhere in the DSCC area, you have been requested to report it to the central control room at 01709900888 and 02223386014. It was informed that the waste will be removed within an hour of receiving the news.
