DSCC unveils Tk40.05 billion budget for FY2026–27

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has announced a Tk 4,004.60 crore (Tk 40.05 billion) budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year, with a focus on practical implementation, balanced urban development and improved civic services.

The budget was approved at the corporation's 14th council meeting held on July 26 and was formally presented on Thursday at Nagar Bhaban by DSCC Administrator and freedom fighter Md Abdus Salam.


The new budget is significantly larger than the revised allocation for the current fiscal year. While the original FY2025–26 budget stood at Tk 3,841.38 crore, it was later revised down to Tk 3,138.77 crore.

According to the proposed budget, total projected revenue has been set at Tk 4,004.60 crore, including an opening balance of Tk 730.93 crore.

DSCC expects to generate Tk 1,815.74 crore from its own revenue sources and Tk 1,457.93 crore through development-related funding.

On the expenditure side, Tk 1,559.68 crore has been allocated for operational and capital expenses, while Tk 1,904.42 crore has been earmarked for development projects.

The corporation expects to end the fiscal year with a closing balance of Tk 540.50 crore.

Presenting the budget, Administrator Abdus Salam said the corporation had prioritized a realistic and implementable financial plan rather than an overly ambitious one. He noted that the budget aims to increase revenue by identifying new income sources instead of imposing additional tax burdens on city residents, while also reducing unnecessary expenditures.

He said the budget gives priority to balanced regional development, waterlogging mitigation, dengue prevention, environmental protection, road and traffic improvements, and enhanced public services, in line with the city's vision of building a "Clean City, Green City."

Addressing residents, Abdus Salam said the budget represents more than a financial statement, describing it as a reflection of the trust placed in the city corporation by taxpayers. He pledged that every taka would be spent with the highest standards of transparency, accountability and efficiency to ensure maximum public benefit.
