DU administration responds to allegations of irregularities in DUCSU polls
Dhaka University authorities have clarified their position on allegations of irregularities in the recently held Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall council elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday (September 24) by the university’s Public Relations Office, officials dismissed claims that ballots were printed at Nilkhet presses, saying the papers were produced by a specialised and certified institution under a secured process, which could not be replicated locally.
The university addressed four major points raised by various panels:
CCTV footage: Not a public document, but candidates may review relevant clips through due procedure under university supervision.
Voter lists: Considered confidential and not subject to disclosure to protect student privacy and security.
Ballot printing: The process was conducted under strict secrecy and quality checks, leaving no scope for outside interference.
Complaints: All applications and petitions have been reviewed, and formal replies will be sent in due course.
Earlier, several panels, including JatiyatabadiChhatra Dal-backed candidates, SwadhinChhatraOikya, and others, alleged ballot printing in Nilkhet and widespread manipulation during the September 9 polls.
