DU and seven college clashes is undesirable: Asif Nazrul
Professor Asif Nazrul, law adviser to the interim government, has termed the clashes between students of Dhaka University and seven colleges as undesirable.
He made the comment in response to a question from reporters after a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Monday.
In response to a question from reporters about how you view the clashes, he said, "These are undesirable. We will try to take more initiatives to avoid them."
In response to another question from reporters, he said, "We will try to do whatever we can to resolve this."
On the other hand, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjad Ali said that the ongoing clashes between students have been handled with patience.
He said that sound grenades and tear gas were used as needed to control the situation. Otherwise, there could have been a bloody clash. He also expressed hope that the situation would normalize by today.
In addition, seven college students have given Dhaka University Pro-VC (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed a four-hour deadline to resign. At the same time, they have also demanded the trial of the police members involved in the attack on Sunday night.
