DU student’s body recovered
The body of Anannya Ganguly, a student of the English Department at Dhaka University who ranked first in the ‘G’ unit admission test for the 2021–22 academic session, has been recovered.
Her body was found on Saturday night (31 January) at her residence in Bazar Para area of Kotchandpur municipality.
According to family sources, Anannya had been suffering from mental health issues for a long time. The family believes that she took her own life due to prolonged psychological distress.
Anannya’s father said that although his child was academically brilliant, she had been mentally unwell for some time.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotchandpur Model Police Station, Md Asaduzzaman, said the matter is being investigated with due importance. “The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Once the report is received, the exact cause of death will be confirmed,” he said.
