DU student's body recovered in Manikganj
The body of a Dhaka University (DU) student has been recovered from Singair in Manikganj. The deceasesd was identified as Shakil Ahmed (24).
Police found his body from his house in Dakkhin Jamsha village of the upazila on Tuesday (June 10) morning.
The deceased Shakil was a final-year student of the Faculty of Fine Arts of DU. He is the son of Nasiruddin Ahmed of Dakshin Jamsha village.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Singair Police Station Toufiq Azam confirmed the recovery of the body.
Police said that about seven to eight months ago, he made a scathing comment about religion on another person's post from his Facebook ID. Later, realizing his mistake, he deleted the comment. Then, last Monday, a screenshot of that comment went viral on Facebook. Many people threatened Shakil on Facebook over this. On Monday night, people from different areas, including his own area, went to his house and threatened Shakil and his family. Police recovered his body from his house on Tuesday morning.
OC Toufique Azam said the student's body was recovered from his house on Tuesday morning and sent to the Manikganj Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the police station in this incident.
