Dhaka University (DU) Syndicate has declared Rashed Khan elected as general secretary (GS) of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) nearly seven and a half years after the 2019 election, following the cancellation of the studentship of Golam Rabbani, who had earlier been declared winner of the post.

Rashed Khan shared this information on his verified Facebook page on Monday (August 31).

In his Facebook post, Rashed Khan wrote, "Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah." He said a university-formed investigation committee had proven the MPhil studentship of Golam Rabbani, former general secretary of the banned Chhatra League, to be illegal. Later, after he failed to give a satisfactory response to the syndicate's show-cause notice, his studentship was cancelled at a meeting of the Academic Council. Following this, his DUCSU GS post was also cancelled. Subsequently, Dhaka University Syndicate declared Md. Rashed Khan, who had received the second-highest votes for the GS post in the 2019 DUCSU election, as GS.

The DUCSU election was held on March 11, 2019. According to results announced by the election commission, Nurul Haq Nur won the vice-president (VP) post, securing 11,062 votes. His nearest rival, then Chhatra League central president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, received 9,129 votes.

Golam Rabbani was declared winner of the GS post with 10,484 votes, while Rashed Khan, who stood second, received 6,063 votes.

Earlier, on November 26, 2025, Dhaka University's Academic Council cancelled the MPhil program studentship of Golam Rabbani, former general secretary of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League. At the same time, his position as DUCSU GS was declared illegal.
