The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections are expected to take place by late January or early February next year. Dhaka University Proctor Dr Saifuddin Ahmed shared this information during a press briefing at the university's Proctor's Office on Sunday (December 8). When asked about the elections, Dr Saifuddin Ahmed emphasised their importance in fostering student engagement and communication. "DUCSU elections are crucial for us as they simplify the process of understanding students' opinions," he said. However, he acknowledged several obstacles, particularly regarding the need for constitutional reforms within DUCSU.

২০২৫ সালের জানুয়ারির শেষে অথবা ফেব্রুয়ারির শুরুতে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কেন্দ্রীয় ছাত্র সংসদের (ডাকসু) নির্বাচন হতে পারে। রবিবার (৮ ডিসেম্বর) ঢাবির প্রক্টর অফিসে সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময়কালে প্রক্টর ড. সাইফুদ্দিন আহমদ এ তথ্য জানান। সাইফুদ্দিন আহমদ বলেন, ডাকসু নির্বাচন আমাদের জন্য খুবই জরুরি। কারণ শিক্ষার্থীদের মতামত আমাদের জানতে বেশ বেগ পেতে হয়। ডাকসু নির্বাচন হলে এই প্রক্রিয়াটি আমাদের জন্য আরও সহজ হবে। তবে এখানে বেশ কিছু সমস্যা আছে। ডাকসুর রিফর্মেশন প্রয়োজন আছে। গঠনতন্ত্র নিয়ে বেশ কিছু আপত্তি জানিয়েছে ছাত্র সংগঠনগুলো। তিনি বলেন, ডাকসুর সভাপতি হিসেবে উপাচার্যের থাকা না থাকা নিয়েও কথা উঠেছে। স্লোগান দেওয়া যাবে না, পোস্টার লাগানো যাবে না ইত্যাদি বিভিন্ন রকম কথাবার্তা এসেছে শিক্ষার্থীদের পক্ষ থেকেও। তবে সব প্রতিবন্ধকতা ছাড়িয়ে আমরা জানুয়ারির শেষ অথবা ফেব্রুয়ারির শুরুর দিকে ডাকসু নির্বাচন করতে চাই।
