DUCSU elections scheduled for Sept 9

The long-anticipated Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections are scheduled for September 9. Chief Returning Officer Professor Jashim Uddin announced the election timetable at a press briefing held today in the conference room of the university's Senate Building.

He said that voting for the DUCSU and hall union elections will take place on Tuesday (September 9), from 8:00am to 3:00pm without any break. Vote counting will begin right after the voting ends.

According to the election schedule, the draft voter list will be published on July 30. Complaints regarding the draft list will be accepted until August 6. The final voter list will be published on August 11 at 4:00pm.

Nomination papers will be distributed from August 12 to August 18, and the deadline for submission of nomination papers is August 19.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on August 20, and the list of valid candidates will be announced on August 21 at 1:00pm. Candidates may withdraw their candidacy until 1:00pm on August 25, after which the final list of contestants will be published on August 26.

The last DUCSU election took place on March 11, 2019, marking the end of a 28-year hiatus.

In that election, Nurul Haque Nur was elected as Vice President (VP), Golam Rabbani as General Secretary (GS), and Saddam Hossain as Assistant General Secretary (AGS).
