'Durga Puja to be celebrated in 33,355 mandaps nationwide'

This year, Sharadiya Durga Puja will be celebrated at 33,355 mandaps across the country, the Metropolitan Sarbojanin Puja Committee and the National Puja Celebration Council announced on Friday.

The announcement came at a press conference held at Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital, where the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council briefed reporters on the overall preparations for the upcoming festival.

According to the organizers, Durga Puja will be observed at 259 mandaps in Dhaka city alone.

They further said that attacks on idols and temples have been reported in 13 districts during preparations. However, law enforcement agencies have already taken strict security measures to keep the situation under control.
