Earthquake felt in the country

A magnitude 3.2 earthquake has been felt in the country. The earthquake was felt at 12:15pm on Thursday, October 1. Its epicentre was at Shibpur in Narsingdi, 51 kilometres away from the capital Dhaka.

The information was conveyed in a notice signed by Assistant Meteorologist Farzana Sultana on the website of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

According to the notice, the earthquake was felt at 12:15pm on Thursday. Its magnitude was 3.2 on the Richter scale. The Meteorological Department has classified it as a mild earthquake.

It may be mentioned that, according to a report by the Indian National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake originated at a depth of 36 kilometres below the surface.
