EC adds ‘Shapla Koli’ to symbol list

The Election Commission (EC) has added a new symbol, ‘Shapla Koli’, to its reserved list by amending the Election Conduct Rules.

A gazette, signed by EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, was published on Thursday (October 29).

According to the gazette, Shapla Koli has been included as symbol number 102 and may be allotted to any registered political party. The updated list now contains 119 symbols, with the Boat symbol remaining suspended.

The amendment, issued under S.R.O. No. 431-Law/2025, replaces the earlier notification from September 24 (S.R.O. No. 381-Law/2025).

Popular symbols such as Apple, Mango, Ektara, Horse, Television, Paddy Sheaf, Train Engine, Bicycle, Elephant, and Sunflower remain on the list.

Sources said the National Citizen Party (NCP) had long demanded the Shapla symbol, and the EC’s latest inclusion of Shapla Koli follows that appeal.
