EC directs Cabinet to halt transfers of Officials during polls

The Election Commission (EC) has directed the Cabinet to prevent any transfer of government, semi-government, or autonomous officials without prior approval during the 13th National Parliamentary Election and simultaneous referendum.

A letter, signed by EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, has already been sent to the Cabinet Secretary.

In the letter, the EC emphasized that all officials assigned to election duties must remain under its supervision until formally relieved, and no leave or transfer is allowed from the announcement of the schedule until 15 days after results.

The letter alos directed to ensure adequate deployment of returning officers, magistrates, and law enforcement personnel during the election and referendum.

The EC has announced that the election and the referendum will be held on February 12.
