The Election Commission (EC) has finalized the boundaries of all 300 parliamentary constituencies for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) elections.

A formal notification was issued on Thursday (September 4), with the official gazette expected to be published on Sunday, September 7.

According to EC Senior Secretary Md. Akhtar Ahmed, the final delimitation includes the addition of one new seat in Gazipur, increasing its total to six constituencies.

Conversely, Bagerhat has lost one seat, reducing its number to three.

The redistricting process maintained the existing boundaries of 261 constituencies from the 12th Parliament, with changes made to 39 constituencies.

A draft proposal outlining these changes was published on July 30. The EC had invited public feedback, allowing time until August 10 for objections and recommendations.

In total, the Commission received 1,893 responses — 1,185 objections covering 84 constituencies in 33 districts, and 708 suggestions or recommendations. Public hearings on these submissions were held over four days, from August 24 to 27.

Following the hearings, the EC reviewed the feedback and finalised the new boundaries.

“This notification marks the completion of the delimitation process. The final list will now be published in the official gazette,” said Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
