EC likely to hold polls to women’s reserved seats during Ramadan
The Election Commission has said it plans to hold the election to the 50 reserved seats for women in the 13th National Parliament during Ramadan, before Eid-ul-Fitr.
“We will not take much time. We will announce the schedule before Eid,” said Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud.
He told this to reporters on Wednesday afternoon at his office at the EC headquarters in Dhaka’s Agargaon.
Replying to a question about how many seats each party may obtain, EC Masud said that of the 50 reserved seats for women, a party must have won at least six parliamentary seats in the general election to qualify for one reserved seat.
