EC may announce election roadmap on Thursday: EC Secretary

The Election Commission (EC) is expected to release the final roadmap for the 13th National Parliament elections on Thursday, EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said at a press conference at the Election Commission Media Center on Wednesday (August 27).

“Please wait until tomorrow for the action plan we have prepared,” he added.

When asked about the exact time of the announcement, he said, “A lot of people are waiting. We understand the matter. Please wait until tomorrow.”

Earlier, Election Commissioner Abdur Rahman confirmed that the roadmap has already been approved and will be published soon.

The EC had redrawn the draft boundaries of 300 parliamentary seats on July 30, increasing one seat in Gazipur from 5 to 6 to balance voter numbers and reducing Bagerhat seats from 4 to 3.

A total of 1,760 claims and objections were filed in 83 areas by August 10. The hearings to address these petitions began on August 24 and concluded Wednesday.

The EC will now finalise the boundaries and publish them in the official gazette.
