EC receives letter from Chief Adviser’s office
The Election Commission has received an official letter from the Chief Adviser’s Office regarding preparations for the national elections scheduled for February 2026. Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed confirmed the development Thursday morning.
The letter, sent late Wednesday, urged the Election Commission to take necessary steps to organize a free, fair, and festive election that meets the expected standards.
It also highlighted that citizens have been unable to vote properly over the past fifteen years and emphasized the importance of making the upcoming election a memorable and vibrant voting event.
This afternoon, Chief Election Commissioner reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting the polls on time.
The Election Commission is preparing to announce the election schedule at least two months before the polls in February 2026. In line with this, the EC Secretariat convened its 9th commission meeting, chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner, to discuss key issues such as the code of conduct for political parties and candidates, amendments to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), and progress on the expatriate voting system.
