EC seeks list of polling centres with CCTV cameras

Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Election Commission (EC) has directed district election officers to prepare and submit a detailed list of polling centres equipped with CCTV cameras.

The directive, issued through an urgent notice signed by Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, senior assistant secretary of the EC Secretariat, was sent on Wednesday (November 5).

District and senior district election officers have been asked to send the lists—both in hard and soft copies—to the “Election Assistance-1” branch via regional election officers by November 12.

According to the EC, CCTV surveillance is vital to ensure transparency and prevent irregularities during voting. The updated list will help the commission assess coverage and strengthen election monitoring.

The EC plans to announce the election schedule in early December and hold the polls in early February.
